Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Shepton Mallet
When worry, low mood or stress starts shaping your day, it can be difficult to know what to change. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) offers a practical way to understand what is keeping you stuck and explore more helpful ways of responding.
At New Path Psychology, I work with you to make sense of your difficulties and identify changes that matter to you.
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
CBT explores the connections between your thoughts, emotions, physical feelings and actions. For example, withdrawing when you feel low may bring short-term relief while making it harder to reconnect with people or activities you value. Recognising these patterns gives us somewhere to start. The focus is usually on difficulties you are experiencing now, while also considering earlier experiences when they help us understand the present.
A practical approach to anxiety and low mood
We will explore how your difficulties affect everyday life and agree on a focus for therapy. Sessions may involve looking at unhelpful beliefs, trying different responses to challenging situations or planning manageable steps towards activities you have been avoiding. We will review what helps and adapt the work to your circumstances. The aim is to develop skills you can continue using beyond therapy.
Discuss your CBT options
If you are looking for CBT in Shepton Mallet or the surrounding Somerset area, please get in touch. You do not need to decide on a therapy approach before contacting me; we can discuss the options together.
